Nutmeg Cake Recipe

Although this nutmeg cake is not common, it is still delicious. Nutmeg is the primary flavoring ingredient in nutmeg cake, a delicious dessert. For the Base:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 Large size eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
  • Half cup butter softened
  •  1⁄2 cup white sugar

For Caramel Frosting

  • 1⁄4 cup butter
  • 1 1⁄2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • Half a cup of brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cream


  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175 degrees C).
  • In a bowl, whisk 2 cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 2 teaspoon nutmeg, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
  • In another bowl, cream 1/2 cup softened butter with 1 1/2 cups sugar, then add 3 eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
  • Alternate adding the dry ingredients and 1 cup buttermilk. Pour into a greased and floured pan, bake for 25-30 mins.
  • For the caramel frosting, melt 1/4 cup butter, add 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 3 tablespoons cream. Frost the cooled cake with the caramel mixture.
