Recipes for Dosha-Balancing Oatmeal

A healthy and adaptable breakfast choice, oatmeal may be easily customized to balance your doshas. This oatmeal recipe with healthy organic spices will work for all vata, pitta, and kapha types.   • Half a cup of rolled oats
  • One cup of water or milk
  • half a teaspoon of cinnamon cassia powder
  • 1/4 tsp ginger powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cardamom powder
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg powder
  • One tablespoon of honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts, cashews, or walnuts
  • 1/4 cup of fruits, either fresh or dried (such as cranberries, raisins, or chopped apples)
  • A dash of salt


  • Heat the milk or water in a saucepan and boil it.
  • After adding the oats, turn down the heat. 
  • Mix until the oats are cooked and creamy, stirring regularly, for about 5 minutes. 
  • Combine the oats with the cinnamon powder, ginger powder, cardamom powder, cloves, and nutmeg powder. Mix thoroughly to blend. 
  • Let the spices mix into the oats by cooking them for a further 2 or 3 minutes.
  • Mix honey or maple syrup for sweetness.
  • Take the saucepan off the burner as soon as the oats are the consistency you want.
